Protests in the Valley of Mexico Against Extortions

Since the early hours of this Monday, various sectors of workers, including transporters, health personnel, and barbers, have carried out blockades on highways in the Mexico Valley as a sign of protest against extortion, lack of security, and other problems.

Transporters from the State of Mexico, Mexico City, Morelos, and Querétaro have closed several main roads such as the Mexico-Querétaro and Mexico-Pachuca since 8:00 in the morning. These protesters denounce the inaction of the authorities in the face of crimes that impact their guild, with extortion and insecurity being their main complaints.

At the Tepotzotlán toll booth, approximately a hundred transporters carried out blockades in both directions, with the participation of bike-taxi drivers and merchants upset by the situation. Simultaneously, another group set up at the San Cristóbal toll booth on the Mexico-Pachuca road, where they lifted the toll barriers and installed obstacles on the devices to puncture tires.

These actions have generated significant congestion on several main roads, affecting thousands of drivers. In addition to the transporters, barbers and medical personnel joined the protests at different points in Mexico City, demanding supplies and better working conditions.

Despite the disruptions, no intervention by the authorities has been recorded so far to clear the protesters. Places like Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza and Boulevard Aeropuerto have been affected by partial closures, advising the public to avoid these areas and seek alternative routes to prevent further complications in the region's mobility.
